About you: where you currently live, what has life been like since your days at UHHS/CHS?, what kind of job do you have?
After graduation I went to college and met my husband, Dale, my senior year. We married the next summer and moved to Monterey CA, for his first duty assignment in the Army. We moved a number of times to several different states, but we finally settled down in Northern Virginia in July of 2004, and moved into our present home in January 2005. I have two children, 17 and 13, Brandon and Kaitlyn. My life revolves around their activities. And we just recently added two puppies to our home, Boomer and Kalee. Now my life revolves around when to take the dogs out LOL.

I am coming up on the three year mark of my first cancer diagnosis. I am in remission (or cured) and the doctors are keeping a close eye on me as I had a local recurrence last March. But I can say that I am a "survivor". Cancer has totally changed my life. I have learned so many life lessons, but of course would have rather not endured all the treatments and surgeries to have learned what I have. I have been under anesthesia 7 different times for surgeries over the last three years, anymore I just consider it a nap. But I guess we can chaulk it all up to life experiences. I have a great faith in God that never faltered and I count on him daily. I am trying to stay active and have become more involved now that I have the energy to do so.

I will be working as a substitute teacher this year to get my feet wet out in the work force. If I enjoy it I may get my teaching certification or start on it anyway. Only God knows what tomorrow will bring and we need to try and be prepared as best we can.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the uncoming reunion!

Cheryl,

You know maybe someday when Ron is ready he will be a part of your family again, I'm sure it cant be easy on any of you. I'm sorry to hear that about him...I know when we were corresponding back and forth..he seemed to be crazy about his son. I'll say a prayer for you and your family during the holiday season with hope that the healing process can begin soon. I understand...(smile)

I will send the database to you for the class of 1984..soon.

Ps Have you heard from Julian Rock lately?

Thanks so much, Cheryl!

My ex was in the Army too and he just retired this June. He was went to Saudi and into Kuwait with Desert Storm, our youngest son was only a month old when he went over there but fortunately my ex only had to stay 6 months over there. It was hard but nothing compares to when it's your child over there. My oldest is in an infantry unit which makes it even harder for me.....Thanks for all the prayers you can pray for him and all of our military!

God Bless~~

Cheryl,

Great hearing from you..I cant believe how the holidays are right on our heals so quickly this year. I mean next week is Thanksgiving? Are you guys going anywhere for the holidays...and how is the Christmas shopping coming along? I havent even begun mine..I think this year with the kids being as old as they are ..we'll go for practical gifts. There are two in our household who still believe in Santa (Alysse who is 8, and her mom..me:O) So we'll have to see what happens. For the first time last year I went out on Black Friday(the Friday after Thanksgiving..and shopped from 3am to 1pm..how tiring that was...we did however get some great deals.

I will be sending you a roster of who is a member here from your class..I notice quite often that there are many who dont join the class as a group on the main page. How is your class roster coming along? Wondering if you 've heard from Julian Rock in a while....we used to exchange email quite often ..than bam..nothing for months.

Here's hoping you and your family are doing well.

The Rocketts Holiday Spectacular? That sounds like fun, I'm sure she's excited about that. I know what you mean about trying to save what you can. I'm really hoping things will get better for all of us with the economy but in some ways it doesn't look to promising. The just put out in our formation at work that the state employee's will not be getting pay raises next year and they are planning laying off. Gosh, I sure hope I won't be one to be laid off but you never know. I have no idea what I would do if that happened, I would probably have to work several jobs to make ends meet. The only thing I can do is pray for the best like everyone else.....So, your son is moving on up in the world. What does he want to study? My younger son, Steven is a senior this year too. He's not so sure what he wants to do, he's thinking he might like to join the Army like his older brother but I'm not so sure I can handle having 2 son's serving in Iraq. It's bad enough with 1 son being over there. Although if that's what Steve decides to do, I'm not going to stand in his way. I feel they have to make their own choices in life and learn from their own mistakes. At least he has some other options as well though maybe he won't end up so far from home.....I'm going to let you go now. It's gotten pretty chilly here today and we had some snow flurries so I think I will go and snuggle up on the sofa and try to get warm....All the best to Brandon!

Take Care~~God Bless~~

Hey Cheryl,

I just wanted to stop by and say, "HI!" It's great to see you on here. I haven't been on this site long, I just recently discovered it but I'm loving it.......I hope everything is going well with you. Are you ready for the holidays yet? I believe I'm as ready as I'm going to be. I'm buying me a new house and it's taking me a little longer to get into then I desire, I'm still waiting on the electric company to put a power line up for me. It sure would be wonderful if I could be in it for the Christmas holidays but right now it doesn't look so promising. Any how, I hope you have a terrific week. Take Care and God Bless~~

Hi Cheryl, yes I do have little ones - 8 month old twins! A boy and a girl - Robbie and Emily. Some days I feel REALLY old but most days I just feel like a very blessed mommy. I worked for the CIA for 21 years, resigned and went to work for a Defense contractor. Although I am back to working for the government its different - I have a completely different job and as a contractor don't have the same pressures/stress. I am really enjoying it. Retire?? I wish but even after working for over 20 years I can't claim retirement until I am at least 58 so I still have another 16 years to go!! So you are going to start teaching huh? I thought about doing that instead of the contractor work but when I left the gov't I was a GS 14 and it would have been about a 60K pay cut and we just did not want to have to worry about money that much. I hope you are continuing to do well. Say hi to your family for me (Mom, Dad, Debbie and Ron). Maybe we can figure out a way to get together before the reunion seeing as we only live about an hour apart. Take care. Dawn

Hi Cheryl, Why yes it is! I haven't had a chance yet to put pictures on my site but yours is great!! You look wonderful! Pretty as always! I read some of the comments and then your narrative - I'm sorry to hear you had cancer and all that you have had to go through (I can't even imagine) but I will keep you in my prayers! I live in Stafford, VA - where are you now? I gotta run right now (finish laundry, bottles etc. before bed and then gotta get up early for work!). When you get a chance drop me a note and maybe we can get together at some point. Dawn

Cheryl,
My daughter does play the french horn. Last year she in the middle of the year she wanted to switch to violin. Maureen and I were OK with it, but you're not really allowed to do that. But since everyone in the school district knows my wife, the music teacher allowed Kaci to use what I call the "Everyone Loves Maureen Trump Card". Then we found out the real reason she wanted to switch.....her two best friends played string instruments and none of "friends" were in the band. Our answer was no and she wasn't very happy. Oh well. Hope you guys had fun shopping and didn't spend too much. Kaci and Maureen went last week (I wasn't allowed to know about it since bras and underwear were involved). And probably like you, they spent too much.

Keep in touch.

Cheers

Andy
